Walton calls Nance injury a ‘huge loss’

Everyone is holding their breath right now as Larry Nance Jr.went down with a non-contact knee injury in last night’s game. Nance had an x-ray last night that came back negative and is scheduled to have his MRI today.

After the loss last night, Walton said Nance’s injury would be a huge loss to the team.

Nance is 3rd on the Lakers in +/-, 3rd in net rating, 3rd in defensive rating, and 3rd in offensive rating. To say he would be a huge loss in somehow still an understatement. Before leaving last night’s game in the 3rd quarter, Nance had 10 points 4 rebounds, 2 assists, and 2 steal. As we all know he isn’t someone who will light up the box score, but the team is better with him on the floor. Nance is also part of the Lakers best lineup (more than 15 minutes played). All we can do for now is hold our breath and hope Nance doesn’t need to miss a significant amount of time.

The Lakers next play a back to back against the Heat and Magic on Thursday and Friday, and so far it appears Nance will miss those two games at the very least. Whether or not he has to miss more will be determined this afternoon.

UPDATE

This is good initial news, but Nance and the Lakers aren’t out of the woods yet. Hopefully Nance can return to the lineup after the Florida trip.
