After being out for nearly a month with a severely sprained right ankle, Tarik Black has been cleared to play tonight against the Los Angeles Clippers after going through pregame warmups testing the ankle.

This is great news for a team that has not been completely healthy almost the entire season. Black, though seemingly not as important considering he is a backup center, has been an integral part of the bench mob that prior to injuries was the best in the NBA. His energy and rebounding off the bench have been incredibly missed since he went out December 6th against the Utah Jazz. With Larry Nance out indefinitely with an unconfirmed bone contusion (official MRI still pending due to severe swelling on the previous), Black’s return will be a welcome sight.

Jose Calderon

As stated above from Tania Ganguli, Jose Calderon has also been cleared to return tonight. After suffering a sprained calf at the beginning of December, he is set to return. Calderon is not a huge part of the rotation, but he is a better back up point guard than Marcelo Huertas (runs for “The Catalyst” fans). Then again, Marcelo did wear this prior to the Christmas game (D’Angelo Russell’s Instagram)

Larry Nance

In less than exciting though encouraging news, Larry Nance was at the Lakers facility today walking under his own power (no crutches). He was there to discuss his knee with team doctors and likely get or schedule to get an MRI done on his knee injury. Hopefully him walking under his own power is good news for an incredibly important player, and a fan favorite. After all, who doesn’t miss a player who does this to people.
