In what is the first big rumor of the off-season regarding the Lakers, Kurt Helin of NBC Sports is reporting that the New York Knicks are interested in Lakers restricted free agent, Jordan Clarkson. Jordan Clarkson has “fans” in the Knicks front office, but Helin states that the Lakers are very high on Clarkson and will retain him:
The club will have at least $18 million to spend in the offseason, and could also explore the trade market to acquire a guard. They and any other team with needs in the backcourt will have interest in free agent Mike Conley. Restricted Lakers guard Jordan Clarkson also has fans in the Knicks organization, but it seems as if Los Angeles will retain the second-year player.
According to Helin, the Knicks are just one of several teams interested in the 3rd year guard, but with the Lakers wanting to keep Clarkson and the Arena’s Rule provision, it is very unlikely the Lakers do not retain Clarkson.
The Lakers struck gold when selecting Jordan Clarkson with the 46th overall pick and expect him to be a core part of their rebuild. STAY AWAY FROM OUR JORDAN CLARKSON, PHIL.
