The Las Vegas NBA Summer League begins July 8th and the Lakers will once again be a part of it. Last season the Lakers disappointed in Summer League with D’Angelo Russell struggling and Julius Randle playing for the first time in 8 months. This year, the Lakers will have a more experienced squad.
The Lakers #2 overall pick and D’Angelo Russell will highlight the team.

The notable absences will be Randle and Clarkson, but it isn’t uncommon for 3rd year players to not participate. Larry Nance Jr, who is recovering from his knee issues will play as a tune-up. There is no official word on who the coach will be, but it will likely be Luke Walton so he can get used to his players and begin to implement his system.
It will be important for Antony Brown to make an impact on Luke. Brown struggled to find his place last season as a 3 and D player, but hopes to flourish under Luke Walton. He showed glimpses of what he could be, but was never able to deliver consistently.
The Lakers will play the Pelicans on July 8th at 7:30pm. They will play the 76ers July 9th at 5:30pm. They will wrap up the “regular season” against the Warriors on July 11th at 7:30pm. After these 3 games there will be an elimination tournament for the championship.
