NEWS: Lakers to hire Jesse Mermuys

Luke Walton seems have added another name to his coaching staff after the hiring of Brian Shaw, Jesse Mermuys.

Mermuys was most recently the head coach of the Toronto Raptors D-League affiliate, Raptors 905 and is known around the league as a solid developmental coach and has been attributed with the development of many of the Raptors players. This hiring makes a lot of sense for the Lakers as Mermuys has prior connections with Walton, he used to help run his camps, and is respected for his developmental skills, which is of the utmost importance to the Lakers at this point. The Raptors and their fans speak very highly of him and this looks like a great hire for the Lakers. As the Warriors season comes to a close, expect the Lakers to be more aggressive in their coaching search and they fill out their staff for the upcoming season.

Although Dave Miller no longer works with TWC, he has made connections around the league both in his time as an assistant coach and as a broadcaster. This report definitely holds weight coming from him
