After weeks of speculation and months of anticipation the 2016 draft is 2 days away. The consensus top 2 picks are Ben Simmons and Brandon Ingram.  Ingram has worked out for both teams, and both reportedly went very well. Simmons on the other hand has stated recently that he will not be working out with any teams. This is not unusual for the consensus number 1 pick. Per Keith Pompey of Inquirer)

Unless something changes, the 76ers won’t work out out Ben Simmons during the NBA predraft process – at least not at Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

They are expected to use the first overall pick on the former Louisiana State University power forward.  However, Simmons doesn’t plan on working out for  NBA teams leading up to the June 23 NBA draft.

Karl Anthony-Towns, last year’s number overall pick, interviewed but did not work out for teams.

All that said it was reported today that Ben Simmons had in fact worked out for the 76ers this morning. As reported by Keith Pompey:

Ben Simmons was in Philadelphia Tuesday morning to work out for the 76ers.

The former Louisiana State power forward worked out for the Sixers at Philadelphia College of Osepathic Medicine, according to sources close to the player.

The Sixers probably will take the 6-foot-10, 260-pounder first in Thursday’s NBA draft.

This Report was confirmed by ESPN’s Marc Stein:

Stein also followed up this tweet with essentially the nail on the proverbial coffin:

For some Laker fans this will come as a disappointment since more than a few were hoping Simmons will slide to the Purple and Gold.  For others this will not come as a surprise, and thus come as a conformation that Brandon Ingram will be coming to LA.  With 2 days left till the draft and the fact that Buddy Hield and others have had workouts with LA it is still not confirmed that the Lakers will draft Ingram, but it is this writers opinion that they would be making a monumental mistake passing on him.
