It’s the second day into free agency and the Lakers have agreed to re-sign Jordan Clarkson to a deal worth $50 million over four years (deals cannot be officially completed until July 7th).

They have also reached an agreement with free agent big man Timofey Mozgov for 4 years, $65 million.

Today, it was announced that they have reached an agreement with Luol Deng for 4 years and $72 million.

Multiple sources have reported, including a few closer to the Lakers than others, that the Luol Deng contract is fully guaranteed for the next 4 years.

It seems the Lakers have confidence that the 31 year old out of Sudan still has enough in him to last that long. It’s worth noting that Deng is a great veteran player and a fantastic teammate.  He will be an amazing player for the young core’s development, most notably for Randle’s and Ingram’s.

The real head scratcher for a lot of fans has been Timofey Mozgov’s 4 year $64-$65 million dollar agreement. Many, including myself, hope that at least the final year is a team option. Many reports are stating that it is, in fact, fully guaranteed.

Though Deng’s contract is larger than Mozgov’s, the Russian center’s contract has caused more of an uproar among Lakers fans. Mozgov is turning 30 this month and he had a very down year last season. He had 9 “did not plays” during the Cavaliers playoff push, which is less than ideal for such a huge contract.

None of this is certain until the contract is signed when the moratorium period ends. Therefore, anything released prior to July 7th, or prior to an actual release by the team itself, is all speculation.
