Markelle Fultz is a really special player that any team would be dumb to pass on at the #1 spot. It appears that the Lakers will likely miss out on Fultz, as many have projected him to go to the Celtics after meeting them them already. Many have touted him as the best player available in the entire draft, but with the Celtics having Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley, it appears that the pick may not be a complete done deal.
This is not stopping Fultz from meeting with teams and exploring his options. It appears as if he is going to meet with the Lakers according to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog:

This is most likely Fultz doing his due diligence and making sure that the Lakers get to see him just in case things do not go as planned in the draft. It is quite surprising to see Fultz working out, since he is expected to go #1 by many different outlets.
Fultz would be an amazing fit in the backcourt with D’Angelo, as they can both run pick and rolls, space the floor, and push the ball up the court. Markelle’s comparison by many was a “more athletic D’Angelo Russell” coming into college. In all honestly, Fultz is likely going #1 with the Lakers taking Ball at #2. Still, it is hard to stop dreaming about a Fultz-Russell backcourt. If the Celtics do pass up on Fultz, the Lakers should make him their #1 priority.
