The Lakers have come into Summer League with some lofty expectations and this year they are finally meeting them. After starting out  poorly, the Lakers have bounced back and now have a chance to win the Summer League crown.

Most of the Lakers success has been due to Lonzo Ball’s amazing play. He has put up 2 triple doubles, and scored 36 points with 11 assists in a game as well.

Ball has dominated the headlines for so many things. Whether it is what his dad says, how well or poorly he plays, or even what shoes he wears, Lonzo has been the story of the Summer League so far.

With his play, team success, and attention, it comes as no surprise to see that he has won the Summer League MVP according to Mike Bresnahan of Spectrum Sportsnet:

Lonzo was also named to the First-Team All-Summer League which really goes to show how great he was. It is really impressive to see the success Lonzo has had as a rookie who hasn’t played basketball in such a long time. Sadly, the Lakers won’t have their MVP for the Summer League Championship.

Regardless, the hope is that Lonzo can turn this into an NBA MVP award in the future.
