The Lakers continue to sign young guys to camp invites, V.J. Beachem being the most recent. This came about 90 minutes following the news of Stephen Zimmerman signing a partially guaranteed contract with the Lakers.

V.J. spent four years at Notre Dame before going undrafted in the NBA Draft this June. Beachem agreed to play in the Summer League with the Minnesota Timberwolves, but they did not offer him a contract.
This signing is just another camp invite, as he’ll have to compete with guys like Brianté Weber, Vander Blue, Stephen Zimmerman, and others, for a shot on the Lakers. I would love to see him compete for a spot on the team, fall short, but agree to play with the South Bay Lakers in the G-League.
The former Irish wing offers some scoring, but is really intriguing as a 3 and D player. He has the physical tools to be a solid defender, and had a True Shooting % of 55% last season, per Draft Express. Beachem shot 39.2% of his 582 total three point attempts in the four years at Notre Dame.
