After buying out Jose Calderon early today, the Lakers moved quickly to sign guard David Nwaba to a 10 day contract:

This is a promising sign for a team that isn’t exactly know for taking risks on players like these from their D-League. The hope always was that the Lakers would get rid of Calderon and/or Huertas to sign a risk/reward player like Nwaba.

David is averaging 13.9 PPG, 7.0 TRB, and 1.0 AST.

He is a player that can play on the wings as a 2-3 . He can’t space the floor, but he is an elite finisher according to this shot chart via Harrison Faigen:

This singing seems like a great upside one for the team that has very low risk. It may turn out to be nothing, but he could end up being an interesting call-up and possibly earn a rotation spot.
