Lakers sign 7-footer to a partially-guaranteed contract

Jim Buss officially removed as co-trustee

The Lakers are making moves to fill the training camp roster. Yesterday, they signed former D-League standout Brianté Weber, and today they signed 7-footer Stephen Zimmerman to a training camp invite.

Zimmerman spent a year at UNLV before declaring for the NBA Draft in 2016. He then was drafted 41st overall by the Orlando Magic, but spent most of this last year with the affiliate Erie BayHawks. Zimmerman was waived by Orlando on July 4th.

This is likely just a camp invite, as the Lakers roster is jammed with young big guys. Even if he does make the team, which I don’t think he will, he’ll be behind Brook Lopez, Ivica Zubac, and Thomas Bryant at the C position.
