Lakers/Pelicans Preview (Podcast)
Big Baller Land Episode 10
Mailbag #1: Tough start to the season.

As we all expected, the Lakers have selected Brandon Ingram from Duke second overall in the draft. About a week ago, Jamie Rico and myself had made the decision to write a few articles in speculation of what the Lakers would do. However, this is the only one I wrote. Sorry, Jamie! It was all but certain that the team would select Brandon Ingram. Philly knew they would select Ben Simmons, and they indeed have. Barring a trade offer too good to refuse, Ingram was the logical choice.

There isn’t much more to say about the 6’9″ wing out of Duke. We here at Lakers Pulse have been impatiently waiting for this moment for a month or more. Ingram was nearly a consensus pick for our staff, and it feels great to finally have him officially on the team.

Staff writer Nelson Espinal had an article digging deep into Brandon Ingram’s strengths and weaknesses.

He also had an article determining whether Brandon Ingram was overrated or underrated.

As soon as the Lakers make their pick at 32, we will be writing up an article on that player, and how they’ll fit with the team. Also, there will be many more articles on Brandon Ingram in the days to come.

The next step for Brandon Ingram after tonight will be inking his contract, and then he will be shipping out to Vegas for Summer League. After that, he was lucky enough to be selected for the USA Olympic Select team. There, he will play alongside teammates Julius Randle and D’Angelo Russell.

Get excited, Lakers fans. We found ourselves the second pick in a two player draft. We found a player who fits well alongside the personnel already on the team. We found a coach committed to winning and building the team. We can finally put the past few years in the back of our minds, as we look forward to a bright future.

As always, keep tuned to Lakers Pulse for all of your Lakers news.
