Lakers rookie shines again, but team falls to 0-3 in preseason

Film Room: Russell’s impact against the Clippers
Film Room: Randle’s triple double against Memphis
The Lakers defeat the Clippers 111-104 to end the Preseason (2-4)

The Lakers were without Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, and Brook Lopez tonight, and you could definitely see a difference. Tyler Ennis, Luol Deng, and Thomas Bryant got the start along side KCP and Randle, and the result to start the game was exactly what you’d expect.

The Lakers fell in a hole, quick, as the Nuggets hit seven three-pointers in the first five minutes. Kyle Kuzma was red-hot in the first half, hitting all sorts of shots. He finished with 21 points, shooting 7-9, and led the Lakers in scoring for the 3rd straight game. Other bright spots tonight included, well actually, that’s kind of it. Games like this are extremely hard to gauge, considering the Lakers were without three of their four bsst players. Games like tonight should not be stressed about.

Although the Lakers fell to 0-3 on the preseason, they’ll have a few days of practice and rest before they take on the Kings in Vegas this Sunday. Following the Kings, LA will play the Jazz and Clippers at Staples Center, to close out the preseason. Lonzo Ball and Brandon Ingram are fully expected to be ready for the season opener, as they were most likely held out of tonights game for precautionary reasons. They’ll most likely be accompanied by KCP, Randle, and Lopez, to start the season.
