With preseason halfway over, the Lakers have finally made their first set of roster cuts.
The Lakers make their first set of cuts, waive Zach Auguste, Julian Jacobs & Travis Wear.

These names should not come as a surprise since Jacobs and Wear have been long shots to make the roster since day 1, but there will be a small amount of surprise concerning Auguste. Auguste didn’t play a single minute during the preseason, the only of the 20 invited not to play, so we can only assume he didn’t show enough in practices to give Walton the confidence to play him. I personally think that Auguste could make the roster down the road, and I would be shocked if he didn’t get added to the D-Fenders roster.

This nugget from Eric Pincus only supports the idea that Auguste will be playing for the D-Fenders.
Wear played 11 minutes during the preseason, scoring 3 points and grabbing 2 rebounds.
Jacobs also played 11 minutes and scored 3 points, dishing out 2 assists.
The Lakers will need to make 2 more cuts before the season starts to get their roster down to the required 15 with Yi Jianlian, Metta World Peace, and Thomas Robinson being the most likely to get cut.
