The NBA Draft is upon us and everyone and their mother are writing mock drafts that are all different because of this weird draft. Players that aren’t suppose fall will drop and be steals, others will rise up based on their workouts and most GM’s indecisiveness. Many players in this draft are similar and the projections as far as their ceiling are also similar, therefore deciding where a player might land can be a headache. Big boards are personal rankings on talent ranking players from the best to worst in the draft. Here is my own big board where I tried to rank based on expected potential value:

1.       Ben Simmons PF/C LSU
2.       Brandon Ingram SG/SF Duke
3.       Dragan Bender PF/C Maccabi Tel Aviv
4.       Jaylen Brown SF Cal
5.       Kris Dunn PG Providence
6.       Deyonta Davis PF/C Michigan State
7.       Jamal Murray SG/PG UK
8.       Buddy Hield SG Oklahoma
9.       Jakob Poeltl C Utah
10.   Domantas Sabonis PF/C Gonzaga
11.   Skal Labissiere PF/C UK
12.   Timothe Luwawu SF/SG Mega Leks
13.  Wade Baldwin PG Vanderbilt
14.   Marquese Chriss PF/C Washington
15.   Furkan Korkmaz SG Anadolu Efes
16.   Henry Ellenson C/PF Marquette
17.   Denzel Valentine SG Michigan State
18.   Malachi Richardson SG/SF Syracuse
19.   Cheick Diallo PF/C Kansas
20.   Demetrius Jackson PG Norte Dame
21.   Taurean Prince SF Baylor
22.   DeAndre Bemebry SF Saint Joesph’s
23.   Malik Beasley SG Florida State
24. Juan Hernangomez PF Estudiantes
25.   Ante Zizic PF/C Cibona Zagreb
26.   Ivica Zubac PF/C Mega Leks
27.   Zhou Qi C Xinjiang Flying Tigers
28.   Malcom Brogdon SG/SF Virginia
29.   Dejounte Murray PG Washington
30.   Damian Jones C Vanderbilt

This Mock Draft was insanely hard to put together. Teams all draft differently and some have different priorities than others do. Philly is known for taking high risk-high reward type players but the best player available added to an already crowded logjam. After #2, I just hope that a couple fall my way because this draft is going to be unpredictable. There just so many options for so many teams that it gets overwhelming. Putting names in and out of slots constantly is a pain. Teams don’t want to get too redundant, so fit and depth are all heavily considered when picking at the lower half. Also that tends to be where the most fliers are taken because they are either contenders or teams with extra picks.

There will be trades up and down. Borderline playoff teams like the Jazz or the Raptors will be shopping, not to mention the Celtics who have a multitude of picks in a weak draft. Okafor is on the market and a team like the Kings could trade up so that they get a much more quality guy. I know you all are eagerly waiting so here it is, my final mock draft of the season:

Final Parting Shots:

  • Marquese Chriss will be overdrafted because of the amazing workouts he has had. That is the problem that I have with him, having him go after the top 10 to a developmental situation would be the most ideal spot for him. Being a top 5 pick seems a bit too much for someone who has such a low floor but the ceiling does make people fall in love with him.
  • The Lakers and Sixers have it made. In a 2-man draft, they get to pick from top potential superstars that can change the direction of their franchise.
  • Team will be drafting players with a lot of steam behind them so that they can flip them for a vet later.
  • There will be plenty of trades up and down because picks will be for sale.
